Saint Ignatius High School

Campus Ministry Preparing for Upperclassman Retreats

From the Wilderness to C.O.P.E., El Camino to more than 200 Kairoses, this year students in the Classes of 2018 and 2019 will participate in one of the most formative experiences of a Saint Ignatius education: retreat.

One of the signature elements of a Saint Ignatius education is retreats. Freshmen participate in their first one in next Friday, on September 22, as part of Freshman Spirit Day. Sophomores participate in a weekly prayer group for a semester and have their own class retreat in the spring.

For juniors and seniors, retreats take on greater signficance as students head off campus for several days in smaller groups as their peers serve as witnesses to their own faith.

During the 2017-2018 school year, Saint Ignatius will see its 200th Kairos retreat, two C.O.P.E. retreats, a group that will make El Camino, and record interest in the Wilderness Retreat.

Campus Ministry is responsible for the hurculean task of organizing and planning each retreat. Seniors apply to serve as leaders of the Kairos and Wilderness retreats and spend up to a month planning out their own individual roles and contributions. A few faculty and staff also participate in each retreat, gaining greater insight into students' experiences and sharing their own experiences of faith.

This week, Campus Ministry released the retreat upperclassmen retreat rosters for the 2017-2018 school year. Please join us in praying for all our students as they grow closer to God through these experiences over the coming months.
